Anyone who has kept up with my family will know we're up to our eyeballs in jewelry work. For myself I've been working some with beads and am trying my hand at knotting for a lovely set of pearls with quality gold beads to highlight the lustre and tone of the pearls. Far beyond my enjoyment of the creations I've created and collaborated on lies my joy in working with metals, silver in particular.
This week past a silversmith, Don Norris, was here for a short class. There were two of us, and my husband Dennis watching and enjoying a peek into other ways of doing what he already has learned.
It was brilliant! Don is great, of course, and we set about work with a torch, sterling silver, and soldier. I can't say I'm the fastest student, or even the brightest. I simply enjoyed taking the time to listen and learn to someone who does for a living what Dennis and I hope to accomplish.
I have a few pieces of jewelry on our business site for Of the Earth Artisans (http://of-the-earth.org), but haven't had a lot of luck catching good images of the pieces with our scanner as photo maker. Dan has a camera that is newer, so I'll be borrowing his for a short period to do some shooting. It's a little late in fall for the warm light, but we'll manage.
Until then, feel free to go to our website (http://of-the-earth.org) and look in the gallery. That's where they'll be until we have better images. When they go to shop they'll be priced, as well.
I'm off!

Another Update
September is nearly done, and though we have finished pieces, we havent found the time to photograph them. My hope is to have some pieces photographed and up.
As the first piece is posted, there will be a brief introduction to the artist.
At any point in time, the pieces you see here may not be for sale. This can happen for a variety of reasons, and since this isn't a sale site, I'm certain no one will mind. Rather than take down the images, my plan is to keep the images available to both enhance your own creative ideas and to show the breadth of our works.

Humble Beginnings
This site is close to my heart. Here is where my family will share their creations, hopes, and visions of what their work can become.
Enjoy browsing.
